Wainuiomata Tennis Club Day
On Monday 5th of December 2016 Area 2 went to the Wainuiomata Tennis Club. We travelled by car, it was a long process as we had to do multiple trips. Once we got to the Tennis Club we had to sit down and Mr Gibbons gave us some advice on how to play tennis and some great tips. Then we went outside and gave it a go!
When we reached the courts we all picked up a tennis racket and there were five courts but we only had use of four. For the first activity a ball machine fired tennis balls like they were meteors. The aim was to hit the ball into the other box on the other side of the court. For the next activity we had to serve the ball over the net to the middle square and hit the yellow cone. If you did you got five points and if you hit it in the box you still got one point. The team with the most points at the end of the game won. The last activity was a game called Bonus Ball. We had to hit the ball over the net and if it didn’t make it you had to drop your racquet and go on the other side of the net. If you caught the ball then you are back in and the person that hit that ball over is out! Bonus Ball is a very challenging game but it’s fun to play.
While there were three groups at the tennis court the other three groups went down to Richard Prouse Park to play some fun games. The games were Long Ball, Soft Ball and Capture the Cone (Capture the Flag).
Overall we had a amazing day at the Wainuiomata Tennis Club and we would like to thank to Mr Gibbons for teaching us and supporting us when we didn’t have a clue what to do.
