My lockdown story

NEWSFLASH CORONA LOCKDOWN

My Lockdown story that began the last term was pretty good until we were told that all schools throughout New Zealand will be closed for a month, until further notice. Because of the unknown cause of the coronavirus and the speed of it around the world is quickly causing a global pandemic.

DISTANCE LEARNING

Really peed me off because I couldn’t visit or meet my mates and do things with them, like going out for takeaways. But then the lockdown was also cool because I still got to see them thru distance learning from home, even though we were not in class, we were able to talk or communicate through distance learning.

The lockdown was good, I got to sleep in and rest my mind and body, which I couldn’t do before since I was going to bed late. Besides that, me and the rest of my household got to spend time and enjoy each other’s company along with the ugly, good and bad jokes.

Otherwise, I really didn’t like being at home in a lockdown situation, because my older cousins were bullies.  Because of boredom, they used us younger cousins to entertain themselves at our expense for some free dumb ass cheap shots.

So the best news I heard from my uncle was that level 2 is about to come soon.  So I gave up playing with my older cousins stupid games.  Meanwhile a bunch of people were roaming in our neighbourhood and we ended up playing some spot light games and other activities.

Back to school.

One century later, the government decided to return all kids in New Zealand back to school. I was angry but happy at the same time. I was angry because I didn’t want to wake up really early at 7am,  But I was happy because I could go somewhere & see my mates, whilst playing touch at lunch with them, without worrying of being told to go home and stop spreading the virus. So I was more than happy to go back to school for some work as well and live my life as normal as possible.

However, like other days, I’m feeling lost for words, lost for ideas and losing my way.  But I’m happy despite all of that, I’m happy that I’m still able to write something. Two days later back at school, I found out this coming weekend is  a long weekend, Queens Birthday weekend to be exact.  I thought it was a week off school.  So happy days everyone, happy days. – Leo

Mid-Term Reflection Evaluation

When I heard about lockdown and COVID-19 I was confused by the news I was getting. Suddenly, I realized that we were about to have 4 weeks off school. I felt really bipolar about the news. I thought about the goods and bads about how this experiment was going to go. The first thing I thought about was 4 WEEKS OFF SCHOOL YAY!! However, at the back of my mind, I remembered that I was going to be home-schooled for a whole month.

Distance learning

The first week of lockdown, everyone in my household was excited and joyful, but me on the other hand, I was anxiously nervous about the work I was gonna receive. All I was thinking about was SCHOOL! SCHOOL!! SCHOOL!!! The next day I got a Chromebook at my doorstep, and I realized it was mine. I was shocked, “I wonder if the others got a Chromebook?” I queried in my head, anyway, without hesitation and I opened up my Chromebook, logged in, and started working.

Back to School

After 1 millennium of absolute boredom, Prime Minister: Jacinda Arden announced that we would be going back to school next week. I got so excited, I whispered to myself and thought, “YESSS! No more homework!”.  Since I was too busy celebrating, my brain got cut in half and I completely forgot about actually getting ready for school, so I missed the entire first week. The next week, however, I was ready. I walked into class and saw Mr. Kauone’s angry face looking at his computer, as always. I put my bag away and everything felt exactly the same, nothing had changed a single inch. I thought that he would at least say, “Welcome Back Jermayne” But he acted like there was no 4-week lockdown and we just got straight into our work without a doubt.

My #10

During school, I always do my best to be my #10, but, if I’m being honest, I’m not always my #10. I always help people out and work smart, but, then I realize that too often it affects my work completion and sometimes my work is not completed. I always do at least 70% of my work, But that’s not enough for me. I always aim to get that 100% mark and to achieve higher levels of skill and ability with my key competencies.

I reckon I don’t finish my work because I get distracted very easily. There’s always at least one person trying to talk to me every single second. Whatever they say, I just respond with “ oh yeah cool” and then get back to work, but little do I know, I often completely forget what I was doing.

                                                                                                                                                                   -Jermayne

LOCKDOWN

On the day our class found out that we might be going into lockdown, I was happy about having a break. A break that I thought was only going to be for 4 weeks, but ended up being a 2 month break. When Jacinda Ardern announced that we were going into lockdown, I was really happy at first, but it ended up being the most boring 2 months ever.

In the first few weeks of lockdown I was doing fine. I was having lots of fun playing games with my friends online, but when it got to week 5 I was bored out of my mind. There was nothing to do that interested me anymore, all I could do was go on my ps4. I couldn’t go on bike rides, and I couldn’t see my friends.

When It got to week 6-7 of lockdown I was losing it, me and my sister were always arguing about the stupidest stuff. Like my sister blaming me for eating all the biscuits and it wasn’t even me. Or she would scream at me for sitting where she was sitting.

Around week 8 I gained some of my sanity back because we went into level 2 and I went on a bike ride with my friends two days in a row.  – Lucas

Back To School 🙁

On the first day of the lockdown I was like “yay we get 6 weeks off!” but two weeks later I thought “gnaw dumb, now we have another four weeks off?” and I ended up just playing fortnite and other games all day on my PS4 because there was nothing else to do.

At times during lockdown, my dad and I put our new tramp together for my little brothers and I. It’s cool having a tramp because sometimes I go outside and lay down on the tramp, and look up at the sky or take my phone out and talk to my friends via call or text.

Coming back to school – Sadly, I had to go back to school along with everyone else. We ended up having to get straight back into our class learning routines again, which was weird because we should’ve worked slowly back into our routines, which kinda sucked.

Distance Learning – It was pretty good getting to pick what I could do and when to do it, but I still had to get up and go onto a class call with basically half a class. Another upside was that I got to have two days off every week(Tuesdays and Thursdays).

Lockdown – lockdown was okay, I got to play on my PS4 quite a lot but it also got a little boring, mostly because no one wanted to play except for a few people. I played every day that I didn’t have to do classwork. Also, I only had to do work until 3-4 pm. I made a couple of new friends throughout the lockdown.

My #10 – my #10 is getting stronger(my #10 is like my angel and my devil on my shoulder and my #10 is my angel and my #1 is my devil hanging on my shoulder) because I’m giving him more attention rather than my #1, and now my #10 is getting stronger since I’m feeding him more attention, so as a result, now I choose better behaviours rather than like last year and the year before when I got into trouble a lot.

Tuhituhi – My goals for Tuhituhi are improving and I’m slowly starting to reach my goals which I’m really happy about, I’m writing a lot faster, respecting my audience as much as I can, and I actually brainstorm/plan my writing before I write it out(last year I didn’t plan or brainstorm as much), so now I’m actually making progress with my Tuhituhi.

Panui – for Panui I haven’t gotten that far with reaching the goals that I set out for myself at the beginning of the year, but I’m slowly getting there. I will read a minimum of 20 minutes a day to practice my reading strategies taught in class, to master them, and to also improve and broaden my vocabulary.

Pangarau – for pangarau, I’m doing pretty well with achieving the goals that I set out for myself and I’m doing even better with the things I didn’t set out for myself like my basic facts on stage 7 with 40/40 (100%) and my fastest time completing it is 1 minute and 53 seconds. I got two in a row and I need to get 6 in a row just to be safe so that I can move from Stage 7 to stage 8, which is achieved at curriculum level 5. I don’t know too much on stage 8, yet, but I do know how to convert from decimals to fractions and fractions to percentages, and decimals to percentages. And the rest I will pick-up once I’m achieving and learning at Stage 8.

KC’s/Key Competencies – I am making progress with my key competencies which is huge for me, the main one that I’m focusing on right now and since the beginning of the year is ‘Managing Self’. I’ve chosen this key competency because I need to improve myself and how I manage my life as it affects all areas of my life and how I feel about myself.

It should also make me expand my attention span so I can pay attention to more important things in my life, rather than just one of my friends that gets me to talk, and then I don’t shut up and get myself into trouble, the same thing happens again… and again.

Personal goals – I will earn a good report to make myself, my parents, and the rest of my whanau, happy and proud that I’m manning up and growing into a mature, responsible, and able young man.

I will;

Follow my plan to make sure that I WILL have at least a 4P or higher.
Practice and challenge myself to do even harder work so I can grow my understanding and knowledge and continue with a good agency and a positive attitude.
Train smart so my body is in a good condition and so I’m even better than my dad and then I can pass that knowledge forward for my little brothers and the next generations to come.

To Mum, Dad and Jenna – By the end of this year as I have already stated, I’m aiming to achieve a level 4P or higher in all curriculum areas. Hand over heart I promise that I WILL do my very best this year! -Trae

LOCKDOWN

On Monday the 23rd of March our Prime Minister Jacinda announced that the whole of New Zealand was going into lockdown because of the pandemic CoronaVirus (Covid-19). All fast food places and take away places were closing. Schools were closing and work from home now began. Only essential workers went to work (e.g. Doctors, Countdown workers, etc) I was so happy that school was closing, but what was I going to do for 4 weeks? Everyone went crazy. Then the day finally came, Wednesday the 25th of March. To me, it felt like an ordinary day, but I couldn’t go anywhere. Every single day I would get up to have breakfast,  go watch some Netflix, and then I’ll play with my baby cousin. My sister and I would always go for walks to count teddy bears that people put either on their mailbox or in their windows.

Two weeks finally go by and it’s time to do some distance learning. On the first day of distance learning, I didn’t turn up to the 9 O’clock meetings or the 2 pm meeting because I was too shy. The next day I finally convinced myself to participate in the google meetings. So I joined… it actually didn’t go too bad and I thought the distance learning slides were really easy. Sharing what you did that day wasn’t as bad as I thought. On the 11th of May, my family and I rushed into the lounge to watch the news. At 4 O’clock it was announced. We were now in level three. Level 3 meant McDonald’s, KFC, and other fast food places were open. My mum and I went to the Wainui McDonalds and there was the longest line I’ve ever seen. So I asked my mum if we could go to the lower Hutt McDonalds and… you already know, there was also a humongous line of cars. I was about to give up when my mum asked if we should try the Petone McDonalds. At the Mcdonalds drive-thru in Petone, it was short. It only took My Mum and me 30 minutes to get our food. I don’t know if it was just me but I felt like I was in heaven.

About two weeks later we were in level two. Level two meant school. We were going back to school the following Monday. I was kinda glad to go back to school that week but it was so cold and windy. On the 29th of May people were allowed to increase the number of people at funerals. The number of people at one house still remained at 10 people. The next few weeks were just like a normal week of school but it was freezing cold. – Kaya-Marie Room 4

Coming Back To School

When we first went on lockdown I was like I can’t see my friends anymore for a couple of weeks although I thought so instead of a couple of weeks. I meant a couple of months, yeah and in that time I grew even more ANTISOCIAL!!! Which is bad. I should have been more social in the first place but I still did not at all but on Fridays cook some meat patties on the weber.but tonight we are cooking them one the oz pig that we got a couple of weeks ago.

The distance learning really helped when we were in lockdown. I didn’t complete it all or come to all the meetings but I came to most of them. They mainly check up on work and if you need any help with anything.

When we were back at school I was like yes finally away from my sister but after school, I was like let me back home already please I this is hell only a bus ride with the meanest bus driver I’ve ever met in my life but now for some reason now after lockdown we can’t stand up and   some people have to walk home I had to do that yesterday(26.5.20)

When all this coronavirus started I was like how dangerous is this, how contagious is it? Do we have to wear masks well? I don’t want to wear them because they look hideous. I’d rather wear a sock (clean). well looks like I might be getting a holiday but with work.

I’m doing my best to be my number #10, not my #1 but you know s/he is always going to be there. I’m doing my best concentrating on my work still got a little work ahead of me but not much only some stuff on E.P

From the first week after lockdown, we have been doing full-on work which I kinda like.the class has been put into groups for reading, writing, and maths our school is doing an inter-class volleyball tournament. We aren’t that good but we are only practicing. I don’t really like volleyball in any way. -Piper

 🟊 Back to normal 🟊

Hello, it is 11:25 am in New Zealand which is the time I’m writing this,  Today I will be telling you about my lockdown, distance learning, my #10, my goals & how I’m Going & much more 🙂 .

The lockdown began on 25 March 11:59 pm:, New Zealand moved to level 4 after getting hundreds of cases a day, we were in lockdown for 8 weeks and everything was shut apart from countdown & other essential stores.

MY LOCKDOWN -My first lockdown was pretty basic I would wake up go on my phone usually go do my skincare routine and then go back on my phone until distance learning started, we usually went out to countdown for our daily outing to get outside, the ques were huge but everyone went In really fast when we got inside we just got some snacks, dinner, food &, etc and then we’d go home and do the usual.

DISTANCE LEARNING -The first online class was alright I didn’t participate in every call, but you had to wake up at like 8 o’clock and then get on the call at 9 o’clock and talk about what you did for your learning the day before & what you got done out of it, on Fridays we would usually play Kahoot or something fun, I got mainly most of the work done but I would get distracted a lot and then forget I had work to do.

MY #10! – My #10 Is everything great about me, all the great qualities that helps me get all my work completed, my #10 Is me who’s ready to do everything and make mistakes as well as learning from them and keeps growing my knowledge of everything. But there’s also my #1 who’s not motivated enough to do anything, my #1 doesn’t care about trying again, my #1 doesn’t help me achieve anything. I can’t always be my #10 that’s impossible but I can’t always be my #1 either.

MY GOALS –

My goals are going pretty well. I have started completing some of them but I hope to get them all done by the end of this term or month. Here are some of my goals –

PERSONAL

  1. Taking care of myself.
  2. Stepping outside of the box and putting myself out there more.
  3. Make more friends.
  4. Speaking up when it comes to learning/sharing my ideas.
  5. Don’t let people bring me down!

THANKS FOR READING THIS LOVELY PIECE.

LOCKDOWN

When lockdown started I was very happy because school was out and I thought it was gonna be fun playing games on my ps4 for a long time but, it got stopped by cleaning it was torture, but when I did it, I spent most my time playing games, it was awesome! I had a lot of fun in that time and I played with my friends and we played a lot, most of the time on ps4 but in the last days of lockdown I went to the skatepark with most of my friends but when I had to leave I did, I did some fun stuff with them and it was a blast, we did some cool tricks and got some hot chips when we were there, I feel of a lot of times we meet at the skatepark, went on from there and when I was done I went home and went to school the next day. -Aiden

My Midterm 2 Reflection Evaluation

When I found out what COVID-19 (then not long after finding out what it was) how it was taking over the world so then on Monday 23rd March, I found out that New Zealand was going into level 4 lockdown on Wednesday 25th March 11.59pm for 4 weeks all bars, fish n chip shops, fast food restaurants closed except pak n save and countdown, and some small shops. Then wednesday 2 night I stayed up until 11.59pm then I was officially in lockdown with me and my family I thought that it will be fun but no, it was just a normal day my day always starts of with eating, rest and clean(sometimes). After 4 weeks of level 4 lockdown Jacinda Arden (NZL PM) announced on monday 20th april  that we are moving to level 3 as a trial (just to see if we are going to move back to lvl 4 or move forward and go to level 2) and as a nation on monday 27th april at 11.59pm but the rules change fast food were open (e.g Mcdonalds, Fish n Chips, KFC, Burger King) but only drive thru but you still have to keep your 2 meter distance. That next night we got mcdonalds I was so happy because I haven’t tasted a big mac in 5 weeks and it tasted like heaven in my mouth especially with the nice fries. After 2 weeks Jacinda Arden announced on monday 11th may  that the trial was good and we are moving to level 2 on wednesday 13th may and that is what level we are today and now schools are open.

When I was told by my mother that I had a meeting in a week  I started to sleep early and wake up early then it was time, on wednesday 15th april I woke up at 7.30am went shower to wake myself up then got ready for the meeting at 8.00am then went downstairs just to have a little breakfast then it was time to hop on first off it was just me and Mr Kauone then other students joined he started to talk about what we are going to do the first thing was that we have to make a copy of the distance learning week 1 then  he explain everything and what we needed to do. Then he said we will have a meeting at 2pm just for a catch up on what we did that day. For reading we used a website called Epic. It is a website that you can read on; on the distance learning slides for reading you would have to read a short article and answer questions at the same time. For writing I used a website called NoRedInk, then we had to write about our lockdown at the moment. For te reo I used a website that helps me improve my te reo its called Quizlet. For maths I used this website just to help me with my numeracy and basic facts, and each week there would be a new task about statistics.

Now that I am back to school it’s okay because there are rules that we must follow and I am okay with it one of the rules is no hand shakes, not allowed to enter school before 8.15am, not allowed to share any of your belongings to others. Now that I am back to school I have a teacher to talk to me in person and give me feedback is great. Now I am back at school I am happy because I get to see my friends in person and now I can catch up with them and talk to them about what I did in alert level 4 lockdown and sport is back on and that is what  I am most happy about that. -Luana

How The NZ Land Wars Started

In the 1860s the NZ land wars started in Taranaki because a small chief sold the land to the British. The war spread all the way to Waikato and Bay of Plenty and even the East Coast. The British dominated over Maori and tried to take their land. The British had 12000 more people than Maori. Maori had a maximum of 2000 warriors.

The war started because the land was sold to the British without permission from the big chief so Maori said they would continue the war if their land was not returned.

Some land was returned to some owners but most of it was not and that’s how the war started.

BACK TO SCHOOL & MY #10

When I heard about the lockdown I was wondering what it was. Then I heard from my mum that I was staying at home. It felt like it was going to be the end of the year holidays. It felt so long that I forgot the days of the week. after the lockdown it was back to school my mum and dad said they were sad that I and my sisters were leaving but I know they were so happy.

When we went back to school after the lockdown. Most of the kids came to school in my classroom. It was like a normal day at school like always we learn we play we go back home then at the weekends. It goes over and over and over until it is the end of the year.

But it’s good coming back to school because you get to play with your friends and you can get your brain working. Plus if you want a good job you have to go to school and get good grades.

I was shy on the first day of school most people were to but the first week was good and then the other weeks were good too. I’m so happy that school started because I’m up to date with my work. I’m getting better at math and reading because I go to this reading class and we do maths every day.

When it’s after school on Friday I am so happy because after school is the weekends I can go home and relax.but when it is Monday it is the start of the week which everyone hates.

But more kids came to school after 3 or 4 days but I was still getting used to school because it’s been like half a year staying home. – Ocean

MY LOCKDOWN STORY

The last term was better than this term because we had coronavirus in NZ and that was so annoying when I couldn’t see my friends or have takeaways because of coronavirus but when the levels went down that’s when I felt better about this term then we all could come back to school at level 2 and that’s what made me feel better.

Though it is good 2 be back at school it still is challenging sometimes because of the impact of the lockdown but the rest of my lockdown was good I was playing games most of the time tho and learning and other stuff like that and we also had online conversations as a class and we had fun days when we just have been doing our learning goals.

I have also been working on my key competencies, academic and personal goals, and straight away I came back to school and done a lot of work in class with all of my friends and teacher and other stuff like we did with distance learning and that.

I  played a lot of games and I have also been doing a little bit of housework and I fixed my own basketball hoop with some hand tools and CRC.

I used four bolts to replace the rusted ones and crc takes a bit of the rust away. I have also been playing with my dog around my house and running and that was my exercise for my lockdown.

I have actually been exercising my fingers by playing games on my ps4 and my Xbox to exercise my fingers and I have been getting scratched by my dog as well and been playing Fortnite on my ps4 and xbox one and watching movies as well. -Korell

Reflective Evaluation

During distance learning, I tried to access my Room 4 google classroom so I could attend my class meeting and also do my school work but had no luck at all.

It was kinda boring without school because  I could not play with my friends  but other then that it was quite fun playing ps4 and leveling up on my game and in the cleaning  part I had to clean the yards, and shed,  that was was not fun at all it was quite difficult  cleaning in Lockdown it took a long time to do all of it but I had fun doing it we filled up the  trailer and had good food but we had to watch my dads boring tv shows most the time but I had fun and went back to school after lockdown. -Aidan

Mid-Term Reflection Evaluation

When I heard about COVID-19 and going into lockdown I was excited and nervous because I didn’t know what was happening around the world. When we first got in lockdown everyone rushed to the supermarket to get as much food and other stuff they could get. Then at 6 pm, I watched the news and I realized that we were in lockdown for at least four weeks. When I heard that we were doing school work and distance learning with Chromebooks or any device I was happy, because we haven’t tried it before and we got to do it at our own pace or time as long as we got what we needed to get done, but after you finished your work there wasn’t much to do except go on your phone or PS4 or go on bike rides or walks with your parents.

Schoolwork

When we did school work it was a little fun. I liked the meetings in the mornings and afternoons. I did my school work in a school Chromebook. The schoolwork was fun like maths because I liked going on prototec and all the other websites. It was always fun on Fridays because we would do fun things. Some people would record what they were doing then post it on google classroom. After a few weeks of lockdown and staying inside, I and my dad cut down a tree in our bush and used it for firewood and he would cut it up with the chainsaw and I would put it on this trailer that we made then drive it down on his quad bike.

Back to school

When I came back to school it was really fun because we came back to the same routine that we always do, I got to see my friends and stay out of trouble. During class time I will always be my number #10 when I do my work and sometimes even if my number #1 comes out I will still be my number #10 and do what I need to do.  – Sam

 Back to school (:l

Week 1 I had a good day back to school and it looks like same and I feel back at school and my mum had a baby on the first week 1 of corona 19 and on when i was at school I had to do distance learning for my work and room 4 was doing pe and game and in lockdown, I did not go out and it was not cool and fun and when i was at home and i was on the game” and playing forinte and going outside and it was ok and i was playing with my dog and playing on my scooter and going for running that.

It was cool and i was playing and running and doing And 4week later it left 3  and it was cool and i can do more staff and it was so cool and it was fun not like leave4 and “200 weeks”  later it was i leave2 and now i’m back to school and the is wis.com  school and it is cool to see my friend’s work and it was time for to go home waiting for to go home the and the next day the heater was no and it  made the class hot. And I did that and the day was gone and I was going home and I got in the car  and  was going home. And it was the next day and it was a cold day and i was at school And work and work… and when time  went to  go.

And  I was at home  and I got into bed. And i sleep and it was a good day and a good sleep and it was the next day in the morning i was playing and i was playing with my friend at school  and they where playing game in the classroom and so i was playing with them and it was fun.

We talked about the 8 week off and that so i hopped in and i talked to them and they did too and so we talked and the bell was go  we had to go to class and we were doing work and then i stopped. When i stop i was going to go outside and play and i don’t back “home” for 8 week because i  like to see my friend and buuuuttttt i like to go home and i don’t  and like home because i like seeing my 1 dog and my 2 cat’s  and i like home because i don’t like getting up at 7:00 i can say in bed to the time i can say in my bed to and what i had to  get back in my goals and distance learning. And that is my work and I’m getting up to my goals. And I feel like I do my  work better  and I don’t talk as much s I used to. Good because I’m by my friend’s and I don’t talk to them and see them.

I went home and played on the game and played with trae on forinte and we died and died and butt we got the  win  and we played and we did it and had to go because it was 9:30. And I had to go into my bed and sleep and youtube was on all night and it was the next day. -Dakota

Plan 1

For caregivers to read the text. Show your work and talk about it. Talk about what’s recently been happening e.g COVID-19 while you can talk about our work in. -Distance learning, -Back to school, My #10 and the following goals academic, key competencies, and anything else

Plan 2

I will talk about distance learning activities and more in my reflection. Use keywords to spell out my sentences. Tell my caregivers about the things I did in the distance learning folder e.g google classroom.

Reflection-

The quarantines over, & everything is going back to normal, because the threat level is changing, since the threat level was a 3, we thankfully got down to level 2, & when we were in quarantine, we did some distance learning. Basically that’s when I did work at home or to be called, a different type of homework, and since you guys saw me and heard me do it let’s do it first.

-Pt 1 distance learning-

First of all, I was lucky enough to get my own chromebook to use and attend  the google meets, it was calm, even tho I thought COVID-19 would end and change everything back to normal I was partially right in a way, but the economic system in NZ and other counters went in shambles, people lost their home, there jobs, and that’s why the world has changed a lot because of COVID-19.

Sorry about the long rant, let’s go back into the distance learning. When you first got the mail about online school, you got me to log into my account and find where to join the meetings. I think I missed the first meeting but the second meeting I attended.

-Pt 1.5 Distance learning-

Let’s take a breather for reading and get back on track, I didn’t notice there was a week 1 activates slide but I did do the other 4 in due time. The first thing I did was reading, it was a normal typical story about stuff. The most recent i’ve read in the slide was the story about sleep, I won’t go into too much detail but it was about how much sleep we need, I do need a better sleep schedule.

The next thing I did was writing. In writing the first thing we had to do was to make a lockdown story like the thing I’m making/your reading. But I couldn’t write too much & the last thing that I LOVED was doing basic facts or called prototec, It made sure you could surpass the level you are on & advance even further, I am in the middle between stage 6-7 with my favourite equation like, X ➗ √ % these stand for multiplication, division, square roots, and percentages & fractions even tho the percentages where hard Istill  had a shot at it.

-Pt 2 school-

The ********** wait I can’t say *****-19 I guess I can’t say that too many times, but let’s get serious now, when I first went back to school I didn’t know what to do, I was confused but that all was behind, staying home finishing my work and hoping to play with my mates! We didn’t do that “ Hi omg how is it hi” we decided to do what’s best right now, learning.

Some of my favorite stuff we did was probably the distance writing at school, the NZ land wars 1960 and last thing was probably EP, education perfect which in my opinion is the most fun because there’s a point system and there’s a ranking system! Ok that’s not all there’s multiple things you can do with the culture it’s like study ladder but if it had more than maths.

My goals are

Panui
Tuhituhi
Pangarau
And personal
All of these correspond to the goals we have; the first one panui means writing. For me, my goals in writing are mixed but my main goal is to make the reader feel an emotion in a sad or happy moment.

The reasoning with this is to understand what the reader likes and dislikes and I can use a chart to understand what the readers like about my story and work, so yeah that’s my writing.

Reading is a simple one since we just did it, so my goal is to use comprehension strategies more to help me understand the text and help me figure out the story.

Next up is pangarau aka maths. Maths is a difficult one to decide but I think I know what mine is. My goal is to use BEDMAS, they stand for brackets, exponents, divide, multiply, add, subtract.

And yeah that’s all of my goals… oh, wait yeah one more thing I wanna be my #10. – Fred

Hello Mum and Dad

I’m going to be talking about what my MidTerm was like. So far it’s been good the past few days I’ve been in intermediate… When we found out about Covid-19 the whole Wainui went into lockdown for 4 weeks, I felt happy because I didn’t have to go to school.

During the lockdown, I received a Chromebook from the school so that meant we had to do distant learning, after hearing that my brain went down, as I shut off and blacked out for a bit. That made me worry because I received my Chromebook in week 3 of lockdown so I was thinking that Mr. Kauone might question me about why I haven’t been joining the video calls.

I could only give 3 reasons I never joined.

I slept in.
I had more chores in the house because everyone else did chores when I was asleep.
I had to go to the family invites with my Nana..
Well, at least I had other activities to do like Te Reo, literacy, Maths, Art & craft, ects.

Apart from my distant learning in writing, everyone in the class had to make a story about their experience in quarantine and add it to the school’s slide where all the teachers and staff members could read our story’s and see what we were up to during lockdown. Other parts of the distant learning were Te Reo Maori where I could watch videos to pronounce the word correctly, there were Kahoots to test my knowledge of how much I could remember and match the other student’s knowledge.

~BACK TO SCHOOL~

Back to school…Ah…Yes…Love it…

I wasn’t excited to go back to school because I was late and I knew everyone would look at me when I walk in because that’s what they always do.

So I walked into class and my mind was screaming ‘Nope, nope, nope’ because my prediction was right. I didn’t like it at first but I got used to it quickly.

After the lockdown, I had to get used to the class routine, where we had to come into the class, put on hand sanitizer, sit down and get to it, and so on. So on the day was the same but the difference between the days was the unique lessons.

One of the lessons that Mr. Kauone taught really caught my attention it’s called, ‘My #10 and My #1’ – I thought to myself, “ Never heard of this before ”

He said that My #10 is the one who will get me good grades, better improvement, and a good education but on the hand is my #1  is the one who would get me into trouble, low standards, bad education, and afraid to take a step up. – Christine

Back to school

Week 1 I had good day back to  school and it look like same and i feel back at school and my mum hud a baby on the first week 1 of crona 19 and on when  i was at school i hud to do dislane learning for my work and room 4 was doing pe and game and in lockdown i did  not go out and it was not cool and fun and when i was at home and i was on the game”and playing forinte and going outside and it was ok  and i was playing with my dog and playing on my scooter and  going for running and that.

It was cool and i was playing and running and doing And 4week later it was leave 3  and it was cool and i can do more staff and it was so cool and it was fun not like leave4 and “200 week”  later it was i leave2 and now i’m back to school and the is wis.com  school and it is cool to see my friend’s work and it was time for to go home waiting for to go home the and the next day the heater was no and it  made the class hot. And I did that and the day was gone and I was going  home and I got in the car  and  was going home. And it was the next day and it was a cold day and i was at school And work and work… and when time  went to  go.

And  I was at home  and I got into bed. And i sleep and it was a good day and a good sleep and it was the next day in the morning i was playing and i was playing with my friend at school  and they where playing game in the classroom and so i was playing with them and it was fun and they

LOCKDOWN! 🙂

When I heard we were going into lockdown I was really happy but then I realised that I was going to miss out on ignite sports. Now that i was in lockdown i was having lots of fun because i didn’t have to wake up so early and i gotta stay up late and binge watch every single episode of RIVERDALE! And i played roblox with my friends then we went back to school >:(

Back to school;-

I didn’t go back to school on the first day instead I went to QUEENSGATE (my mum didn’t wake me up)( also my sister came down DARIAN!!!!) um anyways i went to school the next day because my mum woke me up It was very weird, especially waking up at seven But I didn’t mind. School was fun and at the end of the day we got to play shell shockers. It was hard because I hadn’t played in ages and I didn’t have a mouse but I didn’t care that much. It was still fun. The next day we got to decide if we wanted to be in english extension. I said yes and my friend hadn’t made up her mind yet, so the teacher put her down anyways.

My #10 – I am my number ten during class until we have to say something in front of the class (everyone has to) but i’m shy or we end up not doing it when it’s my turn c: but most of the time i am my number 10.

My goals – We have writing, reading and maths goals. Even personal goals that we choose ourselves. I will be sharing some of my goals (maths) 1. find/validate data measures (eg mean/median/range etc) 2.use possible outcomes to assign probabilities 3. Classify numbers by factors and multiples, including prime (writing) 1.respect my audience 2.brainstorm and plan my writing BEFORE i start my first draft copy

3.use a combination of simple, compound and complex sentences to make my writing enjoyable and easy for my audience to read and understand (reading) 1. Make a conclusion and summarise in my words 2.consistently read to understand the meaning of the text 3.learn what different words mean and use them in my communication (vocab) and my personal goal get 400+ followers on tiktok (hehe .-.)

Class routines – In room 4 we have our day planned out on the white board like… maths and one of the maths groups doing guided maths with the teacher which is the same with reading & writing. The last block of the day we do topic studies then we GO HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(YAY) P.S more episode came out on RIVERDALE it was just two more episodes the finale and just an episode – Taen

My midterm 2 reflection

“NZ is officially in level 4 Lockdown!” Hearing those words from Jacinda Ardern was such a miracle for me because staying home is the only thing I could wish because I like being at home. That whole lockdown was fun because I got to spend more time with my favourite fat chubby cat, Jonah.

My distance learning week one was the best week because I got the least distracted. As the weeks moved on I did lease work and had more breaks. My quarantine was really fun I barely got bored because I was always on the phone to my Best Friend.

When the lockdown levels go down my happiness goes down with it because it means I have to go back to school. My first day coming back for me was very dreadful because all I wanted to do was to STAY HOME. Heading through the school gates I was happy to see my friends. I knew it was going to be sad coming back to school but not this sad.

Only had one friend in my class and that sucked cause my other friends were in all other classes and even other areas.waiting for morning tea to start.

To see all my friends because I only saw one of my friends at level two. When i heard the bell i was so excited to see all my friends. We walked around the school and talked then we heard the bell which we were so sad about then I started to walk back to class. -Shanae

Coming Back To School

When we first went on lock down I was like I can’t see my friends anymore for a couple of weeks although I thought so instead of a couple of weeks. I meant a couple of months yeah and in that time I grew even more ANTISOCIAL!!! Which is bad. I should have been more social in the first place but I still did not at all but on Fridays cook some meat patties on the weber. but tonight we are cooking them one the oz pig that we got a couple of weeks ago.

The distance learning really helped when we were in lock down. I didn’t complete it all or come to all the meetings but I came to most of them. They mainly check up on work and if you need any help with anything.

When we were back at school I was like yes finally away from my sister but after school I was like let me back home already please I this is hell only a bus ride with the most meanest bus driver I’ve ever meet in my life but now for some reason now after lock down we can’t stand up and   some people have t

o walk home I had to do that yesterday(26.5.20)

When all this coronavirus started I was like how dangerous is this, how contagious is it? Do we have to wear mask’s well? I don’t want to wear them because they look hideous. I’d rather wear a sock (clean).well looks like I might be getting a holiday but with work.

#10 – I’m doing my best to be my number #10 not my #1 but you know s/he is always going to be there.I’m doing my best concentrating on my work still got a little work ahead of me but not much only some stuff on E.P

Lockdown-From the first week after lock down we have been doing full on work which I kinda like.the class has been put into groups for reading, writing and mathes our school is doing an inter -class volleyball tournament. We aren’t that good but we are only practicing. I don’t really like volleyball in any way. -PIPER

My MidTerm Reflection Evaluation

When I found out what COVID-19 was and what it was doing the world so then not long after I found out with COVID-19 was then on Monday 23rd March, Jacinda Arden announced that New Zealand was going into level 4 lockdown on Wednesday 25th March 11.59 pm and said “lockdown will be on for  4 weeks and all bars, fish n chip shops, fast food restaurants will be closed except supermarkets like pak n save and countdown” .Then on that Wednesday night I stayed up until 11.59 pm just watching tik toks (just to waste my time) then I was officially in lockdown with me and my family I thought that it will be fun but no, it was just a normal day my day always starts of with eating, rest and clean(sometimes). After 4 weeks of level 4 lockdown Jacinda Arden (NZL PM) announced on Monday 20th April that we are moving to level 3 as a trial (just to see if we are going to move back to lvl 4 or move forward and go to level 2) and as a nation on Monday 27th April at 11.59 pm but the rules change fast food were open (e.g Mcdonalds, Fish n Chips, KFC, Burger King) but only drive thru but you still have to keep your 2 meter distance in public. That next night we got McDonalds I was so happy because I haven’t tasted a big mac in 4 weeks and it tasted like heaven in my mouth especially with the nice fries. After 2 weeks Jacinda Arden announced on Monday 11th may that the trial was good and we are moving to level 2 on Wednesday 13th May and that is what level we are today and now schools are open.

When I was told by my mother that I had a meeting in a week  I started to sleep early and wake up early then it was time, on Wednesday 15th April I woke up at 7.30 am went shower to wake myself up then got ready for the meeting at 8.00 am then went downstairs just to have a little breakfast then it was time to hop on first off it was just me and Mr Kauone then other students joined he started to talk about what we are going to do the first thing was that we have to make a copy of the distance learning week 1 then he explain everything and what we needed to do. Then he said we will have a meeting at 2pm just for a catch up on what we did that day. For reading, we used a website called Epic. It is a website that you can read on; on the distance learning slides for reading you would have to read a short article and answer questions at the same time. For writing I used a website called NoRedInk, then we had to write about our lockdown at the moment. For te reo I used a website that helps me improve my te reo its called Quizlet. For maths, I used this website just to help me with my numeracy and basic facts, and each week there would be a new task about statistics.

Now that I am back to school it’s okay because there are rules that we must follow and I am okay with it, some of the rules are no handshakes, not allowed to enter school before 8.15 am, not allowed to share any of your belongings to others. In school we are using a new website called education perfect (E.P) each day or week our teacher will assign new tasks for each subject but mostly these subjects maths, English, science, topic studies and te reo. Now that I am back to school I have a teacher to talk to me in person and give me feedback is great. Now I am back at school I am happy because I get to see my friends in person and now I can catch up with them and talk to them about what I did in alert level 4 lockdown. Now that sport is back on I will have something to train for. -Luana

MY LOCKDOWN

When lockdown happened I felt bummed out because I couldn’t do anything FOR four weeks.

All I could do was read books and play outside but no I didn’t. I just sat there and did nothing and maybe played on my step Dad’s PS4. When four weeks finished I felt happy but the government said two more weeks.

Then my Mum got a call. It was Mr Sharp and he said to my mum that school is open for any kids that are allowed to come to school If they can. So my Mum did but I didn’t want to go but I did.

After a few days I felt happiness inside me and that was the best time here at school. -Kaleb

Term 2 Reflection

To mum and dad

When I realized that we were going into lock down I thought about how much stuff I could do but then when we actually went into lock down I didn’t do anything. I thought that it would be fun tho bc my mum always knows what to do but sadly mum still had to work though the lock down so that sucked. It was so boring I never thought about how I had to stay home all day. In about week 2 my mum brought some art things to and stop me from annoying my dad because he had to look after me poor guy. When it was about week 3 or 4 I just wanted to see someone other than my dad. I was sick of his face every day and night. I never thought lock down would be like this. It was so hard not just going outside and in the end I didn’t see any point of weakening up so most of my lock down was spent in bed and when I did get up it was only to eat. When I found out that I was gonna be allowed to go to school I just couldn’t explain how happy I was to be finally going back to school but I was also sad because I’d miss just having my own time.

The first day back I don’t know why but I was really scared and so was my mum . All my fear went away when I walked through the school gate. When I was finally in school I just remembered about my friends and how I would be able to see everyone again but it was weird because I wasn’t used to being around so many people in one place. The only real disappointing thing about school was that pacific isn’t on because of corona.  I actually miss school over the lock down. I am happily getting back on track but very slowly getting back to school mode. I was so happy when in week 2 of school I found out we were going to started  up pacific because that is the best part of  my monday when just at that point as we’re all dancing all together it’s like I can’t explain the feeling and I missed that feeling and that we all back on tack I feel like i’m enjoying class more and more.

I feel like these two weeks I’ve more of my number 10. I have actually been finishing most of my work I get in class and I’ve kinda stopped talking when mr is trying to explain and just over all just talking to the class. I think that I’ve been more responsible when we are doing  work. I’ve nearly stopped talking to people in my group  mostly only if it is about work. I know that when I have to reflect on what I just did in class it helps me understand and think more about what I need to improve on in my learning and I’m joining in more in class. I haven’t been as shy as I was at the start and I’m not hiding away from mr. I feel like I’m opening up more in class. I’m as scared of what the class would say or do anymore because I’m being my number 10. -Mondeo

Lockdown(CORONA-19)

On the first day of lockdown I was like what the hell I keep asking questions like for example why did coronavirus happen, what is coronavirus? Then every night  I went to sleep I wonder what would happen if I got the coronavirus. I was scared that if i went outside I will get the coronavirus so I just stayed inside for two weeks.

Distance learning (PM) For distance learning I missed out for the last two weeks then a chromebook came to my house then I asked my mum who is this for then she said it’s for you then I was very happy and I was so excited then my mum said its for your homework the my  excitement went sight down then I didn’t care about the Chromebook any more.

Back to school when I heard that school is coming back I was excited and not excited so I was waiting for school then I was a bit scared because I didn’t join all the distance learning PM meetings and I didn’t do all my homework, then I went back and didn’t get in trouble.

MY#10

In lock down I was my number one because all I did In lockdown I was eating sleeping watching tv and I didn’t do much homework and housework and I didn’t join half of the calls for class meetings than out of nowhere I feel great I could get back on my feet I feel Like I could do anything then I finish half of My home work in two weeks then school came. I was jumping like a kangaroo. I was happy as a baby smiling. – Isaiah

Reflection evaluation

When I found out that we were in lockdown, I was devastated. I wanted to see my family because I was away from them for too long. I Couldn’t handle it. It felt like we were isolating forever. We were stuck In the lounge watching movies, playing games and doing work.

I had distanced myself from others because I didn’t want to Catch Coronavirus. We had to keep a 2 metre distance and Sanitise my hands. It was Hard remembering to sanitise. So I can keep the sanitiser where I can see It. I can keep a 2 metre distance by if I see anyone on the Footpath I can cross the road and don’t touch anything                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  When I got back to school we sanitised every time we went out of class  we only had one tech per week but P E is the same.  We had to sanitise the balls after we used it we had to bring our own water bottles and we weren’t allowed to share lunch and stationary we couldn’t even share chrome books.

My number 10 makes me to always do the right thing, but my number 1 tells me to never do work, it tells me to be lazy but I listen to my Number 10 more than my number 1. My number 10 is the one that’s making me do work And keeps me motivated, but my number 1 is the unmotivated one that Wants to do nothing number 1 is the boring one my 10 is the fun one

My Goals are for me to be able to reach the appropriate stage for every subject I need to master. My next goal is getting better at Talking to people. Thirdly I would love to be able to speak to my Audience without stuttering. Finally, I want to improve my Basketball skills so that I can play the game at the highest level without messing up.  -Jevaize
