Posted in: Area 1, Classroom 7

My learning payday – To be honest, I really can’t wait for this term to end because, after two years I am tired of working constantly. But I feel good to be doing the testing, can’t say that I will enjoy it but I am definitely ready for them. All of my hard work will finally pay off! And I feel good with my academics especially with my Reading and my Maths and I couldn’t be more proud of myself. I’m just hoping I remember everything by the time I get to high school.  – Dallon

My Last Straw – Kiaora Koutou, Nau Mai Kia Wharemaire Whitu Paetukutuku. This Year I have achieved many of my literacy and learning goals. I have definitely Improved my writing skills with the help of our whakaute literacy workshops and I’ve made plenty of progress with my vocab. This past year I have improved a lot with understanding different maths strategies and skills, our WIS Independent Maths activities helped me to better understand the language of maths. This term we have our summative tests coming up, for our year 8s it will determine how we will start in high school/college. Being term 4 we have many exciting events coming up, for myself I have the Brandon Intermediate singing trip coming up, which is going to be fun. Also as a school, we have E.O.T.C (Education outside of the classroom) closing in. Oh yeah and one more thing most of our year 8’s are definitely looking forward to having a lot of fun at the year 8 formal 2017. -Missy

It’s the last term of the year, term 4! Yay! No, I’m kidding, I’ll miss school. Well… Nah I’m joking. Since it’s the end of the year/the last term of the year, I wanna share some things that I find that I’ve either improved on or just found interesting/fun, even just slightly progressed in my learning. – Academic, So first thing I wanna share with you is my academics, I feel that this year I have improved not just in my Writing, but also my Maths, and my Reading. (A little.) My strength is Writing, but in my Reading, I want to improve my fluency and my speed. Next year I’m going to focus more on school than other things. I know I’m going to succeed next year’s tests. – Technocraft, I like Tech (Tech is the short way of saying Technocraft) my favorite Tech so far is Wood Work, there is a range of different type of things that we do for Tech. We have Wood Work, Cooking technology, Art, Music, and Computer/Technology work, If I’m being honest I like every single one but I haven’t been in Computer/Technology yet because we are doing that at the very end of the year. – Woodwork is most likely my number one favorite Technocraft this year. This year has gone so fast, plus being in Woodwork just made it go faster. I like Wood Work because of the new things that I learn and Mr. Archer (That’s the Woodwork teacher’s name.) he is so funny and he says to me when I do a good job “Oh, that’s alright for a girl aye?” Like that’s a little sexist… But I don’t really care it’s funny when he says it. – But I don’t care he is funny, fun, cool, and chill. Most teachers are very stressed and get annoyed easily but with Mr, he just looks at you and mumbles under his breath for example, “Dumb-bo!”, or “Oh, god woman/boy” Anyway enough about Mr. Archer, let’s talk about some other teachers. – Mrs. Lindsay, she’s a great teacher she teacher’s Music, she’s always helped me with the piano and the guitar, Mrs. Lindsay is also very inspiring and funny, also has a very amazing imagination (Probably watches too many Disney movies.) She always made me laugh and I always have a good feeling that’ll be a good time/day with her. -Testing!  Now I wanna talk to you about how I feel in my class and my how I feel about my testing, so far we have done 3-4 tests, I feel I did extremely good in my tests especially in my Basic Fact’s test and my Spelling test, I didn’t do too well in Te Reo Maori  even though I did get  40%. –  I don’t believe that I should have to learn Te Reo Maori is it’s not my cholcha, if Maori was by I wouldn’t mind learning Te Reo Maori but it’s a little bit bonkers that they make us learn this language. I feel that we should have a choice whether we learn Te Reo Maori or if we don’t. But that’s just my opinion if you feel that all schools should learn Te Reo Maori, then great, but for me, Te Reo Maori is probably the less thing that I’m worried about. – I’m going to miss being a year seven but also I’m very excited to be a year eight, I know that I will be a good role model for the year sevens, most of the year eights say that, “Year sevens are so annoying!” or “Year sevens are so immature, and irresponsible” Which is true to be honest most kids are still in the “Primary mood” when they get here, but once they know what is in store for them, they’ll get out of that mood after a while. Well, that’s all that I have to say, Goodbye. -Ilyse

My Last Ride – Kia ora and welcome back to my blog. As a year 8, this will, unfortunately, be my last term. As sad as it is I will still be excited for upcoming events like my tests, Year 8 Formal and Year 8 Awards presentation. I am very nervous and excited for these next couple of weeks for my tests. I definitely know I have improved and this term has set me up for great results. I hope to either get high level 5’s or level 6’s even. Another thing I’m excited about is our formal. Formal is a night where the year 8’s have sort of like a ball, and some of the year 7’s are waiters/waitress for the night. I think that the most fun part of it is shopping for it. I’m looking forward further into term 4 to year 8 awards presentation. As a year 8, I’ve been looking forward to this for 2 years. I’m excited because already I can be in the running for 2 awards! So that’s me so far in this term. I’ll reply back soon. Bye.  – Rina

My Holidays & Getting Back To School A Week Late – For my holidays I went to my Nana & Grandad’s place in Masterton for the first week, then we drove back to the Airport and flew to Auckland then flew to Brisbane and stayed at my Aunt & Uncle’s place in Carindale in the second week. For the third and final week of our holiday, we stayed at Callide Dam in Biloela (A Small Town In Central Queensland) to visit my Grandparents’ and see my youngest cousin in Australia; Sam. We went to Australia Zoo, Cooberrie Park & went to Sizzler (An all you can eat Restaurant). I came back to school a week late and it has been a bit tough catching up with last weeks work. I have been doing rather well with my work though because I have managed to catch up with almost all of it. It has also been kind of hard getting my routines back in order because I have to wake up at 6 or 6:30 every morning again. But it’s been fun and hard. – Connor

This Term I’ve accomplished and done some awesome new things.  Tecnocraft – First up I’ve been really enjoying my Technicraft class. I’m currently in Woodwork and so far this is my favorite Tecnocraft class. I have learned lots of new skills and with these skills, I’ve created awesome pieces of work. I’m aiming to get my final piece of work done in my last Woodwork session for this year. So far I’ve made a trophy, phone holder, and a pencil holder. Kapa Haka – Secondly, my Kapa Haka group, after the cultural concert, (which I talked about in my previs reflection) I have had one lesson in the hall with my Kapa Haka group, we have now stopped our usual Thursday after school sessions because our cultural concert is over. I have done my best in Kapa Haka this year and I feel very proud of myself and I think next year I will be in the front row. Academics – Lastly my tests and where I’m at in Maths, Reading, and Writing. Currently, it’s the last Term. That means it’s the Term for tests, our class has heaps of tests coming up this week. In Maths I’m a 3P In Reading I’m at 3P and in Writing a 3A. I am glad about where I’ve ended up for the last term Of 2017. Conclusion – I’m very happy with what I’ve accomplished this Term. And I can’t wait for the Christmas holidays. – Jade

Hi, I’m Asharna and this is my start of term 4 reflection. Today I will be talking about Tech, Term 4 excitements and most importantly our summative tests coming up. Technocraft – Today I have just recently finished my last session of Cooking with Miss Calcinai. I have enjoyed making and baking all of the different recipes she puts together for us. Next week I will be attending art with Mr. Smith. I am excited because this will be my FIRST EVER session of Art, and I have absolutely no idea what to expect! Summative Term 4 Testing – As the Term starts to kick in. We are all starting to get ready for the end of year summative tests. I am nervous yet excited to see my results for the tests. I am currently achieving above for my year level in Maths, Reading, and Writing. I have been revising all of our previously learning to prepare us for the summative testing. Term 4 Excitements – 7 more weeks until the big day. When the year 8’s leave it will be our turn the year 7’s to lead the school as responsible year 8’s, but before they leave we are going to have a bit of fun. In week 8 we will have EOTC. I am really excited to see and do all of the fun and entertaining activities that are planned. I have enjoyed the start of the term and can’t wait for more. -Asharna

This term has just started but it has been filled with a lot of activities already, some main things I’ve really enjoyed are the inter-school touch tournament, technocrat, and my curriculum improvements. Touch Tournament – Recently I have taken part in an inter-school touch tournament which took part in the Hutt Valley Park, the school took two mixed teams “A” team and “B” team I was in the “B” team, all players played awesomely. We ended up 6th out of 16 schools which isn’t too bad we won three games and lost two.Technocraft – This term Technocraft has been good. Right now I am in Cooking Technocraft, recently we made Raspberry buns, frittatas and we also had to make cleaning products for our classroom and the tech room. My favorite part of cooking is that we get to eat everything. Sadly this was my last lesson in cooking, now I’m moving on to Art. Academics – Now for my Academics, our class will have tests coming up this week. Until my results are back, for now, it’s a 3P in maths, a 3P for Writing and a 4B for Reading! In my next reflection, my results would have come back and I will hopefully get a better result in my Academics. So overall the beginning of this term has been awesome I can’t wait until the end of year trips and Christmas Holidays. – Shania

Ready for The Holidays – It will be sad to leave this school but I have to get ready for my future. I would like to be a worker at Mcdonalds 1st, then become a Plumber/builder to support my family. My academic goals are to study hard at High School so I can get a degree for Building/Plumbing. So far for testing, we’ve done Basic facts, Te Reo Maori and Spelling I didn’t do so so well for basic facts as I wished to because I went to sleep late. For Te Reo Maori I also didn’t do well because I don’t really have knowledge of Te Reo Maori. And for spelling, I did pretty well because I got a whole side right and a couple on the other side. For the Holidays I got a new Xbox 360 and I’ve had fun playing on it, and also my mate came over and played with me on my Xbox. And I also went to the park and it was awesome well because it’s a park. -Edmond

My Last Journey – Kia ora & Welcome Back to my personal blog. I am a year 8 and for me, it will sadly be my last term here at WIS and then I will be off to High school. I feel like I have made it very far in my 2 years But I feel like I need to do more because I don’t think I’ve tried hard enough. – We have the end of year tests to do I am very nervous but excited because I will know how far I’ve come and how good I am I will do well for the maths and writing tests but I haven’t been trying as hard on my reading as much as I’ve been working on my other subjects because writing is my favourite subject and topic as well. – Technocraft there are 5 Tech rooms There is, Woodwork which is taught by Mr.Archer He shows us How to make create woodwork and u have to make what he asks u to make and u spend around 3 or 4 weeks to make it and take it home and then we are allowed to make something else that we want but it can’t be too big or too small to make. Sometimes he would say “Repeat after me, Duh” Whenever we did something wrong or when we made a mistake then we would say “Duh” And sometime he would call me “Flower Pixie” Whenever I was with him or whenever I did something wrong.  Another Tech is The cooking room with Ms.Kaucinia. She is the food teacher and she teaches us how to cook and she gives us instructions on how to make cakes and pancakes and other foods to make for the teachers and for yourself. Mr.Smith which is our art tech room and he teaches us how to do art and all about different types of shades like for example light shades and dark shades and how to make them stand out and at the end of the year we would show our art to the school or the rest of our tech group. Ms.Lindsay is our music tech teacher and she teaches us how to play all kinds of music like guitars and drums and piano and all about keys and she is my favorite tech teacher .-  My Holidays In the holidays I went to the trampoline park and played for an hour and after that we went to Mcdonalds to get me a feed with my nana and then we went to the park and I had another play. On the holidays I also went to my friends to have a sleepover and it was really fun we did each other’s make up we dressed up and acted like we were models and did the catwalk and then we were singing to our favourite music and then we watched some horror movies but I didn’t get scared but my friend did because she was screaming and I got maybe 1 or 2 little scares but nothing too scary was even in the movie and then we went to sleep. -Emily

Term 4 Planning – These are my goals for this term and beyond. The Tests. This term I feel like I can do this so I’m going to bring my number 10 that will help me with the test that is coming up and I will be successful as I am doing my test. Before I do the test I will practice my writing, reading, math, and Maori to be ready for my tests. Holidays. For the holidays I will practice my reading in my spare time so for next year I will be ready for tests and just to get better for me and my education. Plans for next year. Next year I will have goals that is appropriate for my learning, and to be focused at all time necessary. I will level up all my tests, and to run for Computer responsibilities.  – Levi

Term 4 has been pretty full on so far, especially since we do our important tests this term, which can be REALLY tiring for most people, especially me. But by the time I’ve completed all the tests and revised everything, it’s definitely worth the effort. For the Writing test, I’m not too worried, because as long as I stay focused and keep the audience (reader) interested, I should be fine. As for Maths, it was never really my strongest subject, so I’ll have to practice a lot for my basic facts test etc. And I’m pretty confident for the Reading test as well since I’ve been practicing reading a lot during class, so the reading test shouldn’t be a problem. We haven’t actually done any of the tests as I’m writing this, but that’s what I’m expecting of myself when we do end up doing the tests. – Renee

For my holidays I went to my Nana & Grandad’s place in Masterton for the first week, then we drove back to the Airport and flew to Auckland then flew to Brisbane and stayed at my Aunt & Uncle’s place in Carindale in the second week. – Connor

Technocraft Term 4 – So far this term I have continued being in Woodwork for Technocraft, but sadly it’s my last week. Next, I will be moving on to Digitech, I am really excited to see what new things I can learn before the end of the year. this year for Technocraft I really enjoyed music and personally, I think that was one of my favorites 🙂 Summative tests Term 4 – This term is going to be filled with our end of year tests, I am really nervous and excited to see what my results are. I am currently a 3A in reading and writing and for maths I am 3B. I am positive I will make progress in my writing and hoping for the same in the rest of my summative test. End of year surprises- This term we have lots of exciting upcoming events, in week 8 we will have EOTC, I am really excited to see what fun and exciting things we get to do outside of the classroom. But sadly in week 9, we will have to see the year 8’s leave. Next year our year 7’s we will be the year 8’s, that means we will have to be the leaders for new year 7’s 🙂 – Ashlee

The Home Straight – so it’s the last term of my intermediate journey, I believe I’ve come a long way with my personality and my national standards plus, academics, so far our class have set a good foundation this year with our working abilities I can’t wait to head off to high school as I’m excited to see  how teachers teach. My academics have excelled especially in my reading. In my reading I went from 2B to 4A and my writing I went from 2A to 3A and for maths, I went from 3B to 4P but I will achieve better for the end of year tests because I have learned more about the subjects. We are all hoping we are going to do good in our summative testing and we are all excited for what term 4 brings us. My favorite thing this term will probably be our year 8 formal because we can dress like stars. In the holidays I went to the Lions game with my mate Liam at Westpac stadium it was so plus I got a photo with Julian Savea!!!!!! That’s my reflection for the start of term 4. – Kelso

Test Term – It’s the last term of my 2 years at intermediate and it’s going to be very busy. We have the end of year tests, formal and the year 8 leaving assembly, I am determined to complete my goals before I leave for high school. I am looking forward to high school and all the new challenges it will bring me. WIth upcoming tests this term we have been practicing and focusing on different areas of our academics. I am confident I will achieve a higher level in my reading because I have been focusing on completing my reading goals for this term, for my writing, I believe I have improved writing different types of writing pieces and for my maths, I think I will do well because I have enjoyed learning maths last term. And the beginning of this term. At the end of every year, we hold a formal for the year 8’s before they leave, we get served dinner, line dances and more activities. We also have the band playing for us throughout the night. At the end of the night, they choose a King and Queen of the night. I’m very excited for the end of the year because other than formal we have a lot of other exciting events. On the very last day of our school year, we have a huge leaving assembly for the school to break up, we say goodbye to the year 8’s and give out the year 8 awards. Then we leave school and prepare ourselves for another school year at intermediate or our first year at high school. I’m excited about high school because it’s a chance to make new friends and practice more in my learning. I think I’m going to do well with my end of year tests and improve in all academic areas. Term 4 is going to be very fun but will have a lot of concentration and hard work as well, I’m going to work very hard to achieve my goals I have set for my last term at intermediate. This term is going to have a lot of fun involved like a formal end of year E.O.T.C and more. I’m excited about high school because it will bring more challenges and opportunities for me and my learning.  -Maia

Term Full Of Excitement – This year I have achieved many of my literacy and math goals. I have definitely made a lot of progress with all academic areas. I’m happy with the progress I’ve made with my last 2 years I’ve been here. I’ve just finished doing my Basic Facts Test and I got a really good score, for stage 7 I just needed 1 more score to pass and get to stage 8 but yeah I’m still proud of the progress I made, Mr. Kauone is really happy with the amount of  progress I showed in my Maths test.  (SPORTS) – for P.E we have finished doing basketball, we’re also finished learning the basics and the Rules e.g. dribbling, shooting and running with the ball. So yeah we’re doing fine. -Pulu

End Of Year Testing – This term we have been focusing on tasks that are similar to the tests that we are going to be doing on end of year tests. This week, week 2, we will be doing our Basic Facts test, Te Reo Maori test and the Spelling test. We will be completing the rest of the tests throughout the next few weeks. I am really excited to complete all of these tests because I have worked really hard to achieve these subjects and get an above in all but at the same time I’m really nervous. Year 8 Formal – At the end of term 4, and being the year 8’s last term at Wainuiomata Intermediate we will be rewarded with a formal where we have to dress up. There is a rule that if you have been in trouble in the last term you are not allowed to attend the formal at the end of the year. Technocraft: For me, this is the last term of Technocraft for me as I am a Year 8 and this is my last term at Wainuiomata Intermediate. Week 1 and 2 were my last sessions of Fabrics Technology were I made a Case that holds chargers with a little pouch that is connected inside by a piece of velcro, and my next Tech Subject I will be attending will be Music Technology which I am really excited to attend. -Paris

End of year tests – This term is the last for the year and we have our end of the year tests to do. I’ve improved a lot in Maths and I think that from using independent learning tasks throughout the year has really helped me. I’ve just finished my Maths test and I’ve improved a lot since my previous test. Holiday – To me, I found the holidays exciting because we did a lot of things like I went on a tram ride up to the Botanical Garden, and we walked to Te Papa. then towards the ending of it became boring because I didn’t have that much to do. Goals – I have completed most of my goals in all subjects and I’m hoping to complete them all by the end of the term. I’ve been focusing on my maths to get better at them, and next year I am going to be focusing on my writing goals more too. – Devaux

Term 4 Planning – These are my goals for this term and beyond. The Tests. This term I feel like I can do this so I’m going to be my number 10 that will help me with the tests that are coming up and I will be successful as I am doing my test. Before I do the test I will practice my writing, reading, math, and Maori to be ready for my tests. Holidays. For the holidays I will practice my reading in my spare time so for next year I will be ready for tests and just to get better for me and my education. Plans for next year. Next year I will have goals that are appropriate for my learning, and to be focused at all time necessary. I will level up all my tests, and to run for Computer responsibilities.  – Levi

Technocraft 2017-  this year Digitech has been my favorite so far and we are doing a lot of bloody tests and we have done mock tests of the writing test. -Ryan

Kia ora, Talofa and we’re room 7. Term 4 has just started and so far we’ve set a good foundation for the rest of the year. We are getting prepared for summative testing and we need to get back into test mode. I want to get a high score for writing because that’s what I’m lacking at the moment. I can’t wait for the Spelling test because I’ll get high marks for that. Some upcoming events this year are the year Eight Formal and our end of year class lunch. I can’t wait till the Formal because it will be a great night to end off the year eights last year of Intermediate. For the end of year shared lunch, we’re going to have a big salad by growing the vegetables at the back of our classroom. For the Holidays I went to the Wellington Lions game at Westpac Stadium and I got to bring my mate and we watched the Lions sail their way to the finals vs Bay Of Plenty, plus I got a photo with Julian Savea, the Lions will definitely make our town proud. -Liam

Starting Of Term 4 – This term we have been preparing ourselves for the end of year summative testing, which I’m really nervous for as these are what counts for next year. Coming back to my summative testing we are doing 3 this week, week 2. The ones that we are doing are our, basic facts, Te Reo Maori, and our spelling test. The other tests are later on in the term but are the really big ones and the ones I’m really nervous for, they are Reading, Writing and, Maths. For testing, I am hoping to achieve a high level 4. There are some really big events for the year 8’s this term as it’s our last term ever at Intermediate, we have our leaving assembly which is all the trophies and prizes that are awarded to the year 8’s who have earned it. The other big event to happen this term is our year 8 formal when all the year eights meet up and enjoy one of the last nights together. In Room 7 we are preparing our end of year shared lunch because we’re growing some healthy vegetables like tomatoes, carrots, garlic, lettuce, and dill.  So I’m really looking forward to the rest of this term. – Jazmyn

My Term 4 Plans. Its term 4 now, and I’m already looking forward to the holidays. Here are the things to be achieved before the long break. My tests, we are practicing with our blood sweat and tears attempting to increase our past scores. We are doing mock test after mock-test for our Writing in order to practice skills but also improve our class average and also personal averages. This term, the genre for our writing is an explanation. I am targeting to stay above the national standards for each subject (Maths, Writing, and Reading.) And to improve as much as possible in my Te Reo Maori test. Planning for next year. next year I and my fellow year 7s will be year 8s. Next year I’m aiming to be a Student Counselor. I think this target is possible if I can be a role model for the younger students. As a Student Councillor, I  show the rest of the school our standards, our traits, and our responsibilities.  P.E. lastly, I’ll talk about our P.E Sessions, we have started Basketball right now, but we instead have decided to play softball instead. It is my favorite sport to play in P.E time so I’m happy about that. – Greg
