Today WIS first eleven soccer girls competed in the annual Intermediate Inter-School Girls Soccer Tournament. The team was very inexperienced, where none of the girls actually play soccer. However, we had an exceptional day going through pool play unbeaten. Results:

WIS v Naenae 1 – 0 WIN

WIS v Fergusson 0-0 DRAW

WIS v TAWA 1 – 0 WIN

WIS v RAROA 2    1-0 WIN

Which meant we qualified for the semi finals, which was an outstanding result. In the semi we came up against a very talented RAROA team, who actually won the AIMS games soccer tournament last year. The game was a very tough encounter and they scored 3 quick goals. However, the girls managed to hold them out for all of the second half. Final score Raroa 3 – 0.

We then played EBIS for 3rd and 4th. The score was 0-0 with 2 minutes to go, they then managed to score a very lucky goal.

The standout players were:

Mihi Jury

Katie Spicer

Alexis Tauaneai

Katie Fifield

Hunny Taingahue

Well done to all the girls for representing the school with such pride and passion.
