Dear Parents and Caregivers
The Board of Trustees cannot provide teachers for students during the upcoming strike.
The NZEI (Teachers’ union) has advised the Wainuiomata Intermediate Board of Trustees that the principal and teachers at our school will be taking a full day’s strike action on Wednesday, 29 May 2019.
The Board has carefully considered the availability of teaching staff, and unfortunately decided that we can’t provide the normal teaching services during the strike. Therefore, the school will be closed during this strike. It will be up to families to make alternative arrangements for the care of your children on the day of the strike.
I know that this is inconvenient for parents and students alike, but please be assured that student safety is our main concern and we cannot have unqualified people supervising our students this day at school.
I reiterate that there will be no adults to supervise students at our school on that day.
Thank you for your understanding.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees
