Our culture

Cultural celebrations are an important part of our school life. All ethnic groups represented in the school share their dance, drama, language, costumes and food during our annual Cultural Festival. The week long celebrations and activities culminate in a shared lunch and an evening show for our parent community.

Te Reo Māori

Te Reo Maori is taught in all classes and all new students and staff are welcomed on to the school marae at the start of the year.

TKT Maori Enrichment Class

Te Kahui Tamariki is another unique feature of the school, a class which focuses on teaching Māori alongside English and all other core curriculum subjects.

Kapa Haka
There is an excellent Kapa Haka group in our school and all students who wish to may join the weekly Kapa Haka Group practices. You don’t have to be in the TKT class to join the group for practices/performances.

School Marae

Used for teaching Tikanga Māori: culture and protocol.
All new students and staff are welcomed onto the marae at the start of the year.
A variable teaching and learning space and meeting room for everyone.

There is a large number of students involved in the Pasifika Cultural Club.
